Dr. Lionel E. Lázaro Collazo is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon (American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery) specializing in sports medicine and joint preservation. His main focus is hip preservation and hip arthroscopy, and his goal is to help you restore the function of your hip, knee and shoulder so you can get back to what you enjoy.
He completed his orthopedic residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York — consistently ranked #1 in orthopedics in the United States — and his sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
Throughout his training and career he has provided medical coverage for high school, college and professional teams in the NFL, MLB and NHL. That experience caring for elite athletes translates into precise care focused on getting you back to your activities — whether or not you are an athlete.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Lázaro serves as an editorial reviewer for orthopedic journals, has authored more than 47 peer-reviewed publications and 7 book chapters, and is an invited speaker at national and international symposia. He cares for patients from across Puerto Rico and abroad, in Spanish or English.
